With nearly 200 frozen waterfalls, great ice conditions and short approaches, Rjukan is a world famous destination for ice climbers on all levels. Because of the many waterfalls and the variety of grades, Rjukan is a perfect place for those who want to try ice climbing for the first time, or for those who want to improve their ice climbing skills. Spending a week, a weekend, – or just a day here, you are guaranteed to do more climbing than other places, simply because the ice climbs are so accessible. In combination with the accommodation at Climb Inn, you are more than sure to make the most out of your climbing holiday in Rjukan!

1 day ice climbing – an ICE day out!

Never tried ice climbing before? – Join us for a one day ice climbing trip to try this amazing and fascinating sport. We will do our best to adjust the program and level of climbing so it suits your ability. Our goal is to give you a nICE day out, and not to make you feel uncomfortable –  hopefully this day will inspire you to continue with one of our three or six days ice climbing courses!

Time: Every day throughout the season. Starts at 10.00 and finishes at approx. 16.30.
Gear: All climbing gear is included.

3 days ice climbing course – Level 1 (Friday to Sunday)

This is an introduction course for those who have never tried ice climbing before, or just a couple of times, and want to learn/improve their basic ice climbing skills. During the three days of this course we will be covering the “need to know” techniques and theories such as placing ice screws, how to move on ice, setting up top rope belays and safety precautions while ice climbing and approaching the ice climbs.

3 days ice climbing course – Level 2 (Monday to Wednesday)

If you have completed our Level 1 climbing course, or have been ice climbing several times so you master the basic ice climbing techniques, we offer a intermediate ice climbing course to take you to the “next level” of ice climbing. On this course the focus will be on how to climb steeper ice more efficient, how to make good belays on ice climbs and an introduction to multi-pitch climbing routines.

6 days ice climbing course – Level 1 & 2 (Friday to Wednesday)

This course is a combination of our Level 1 and Level 2 courses. Starting with the basic ice climbing techniques and theories,- then progressing to steeper ice climbing techniques and belay set ups, this course covers all aspects of ice climbing from beginner to intermediate.
