There is something magical about ice climbing, - the silence, the colours and the formations that will burn in to your mind for ever.

Ice climbing is not only the domain of the macho climber as there are many routes to choose from; like friendly slabby ice climbing to steep long multi pitch routes. It’s your choice. 

The development of modern ice climbing equipment has made this activity much easier and safer than it use to be. This has opened up the sport for many people. Ice screws are much stronger and easier to place, whilst axes and crampons are specifically designed for steep ice and can be easily and securely placed/removed with minimal effort. If you also have an experienced guide in your team it will be safe trip into the winterland of Rjukan.

After have done first accent of nearly half of the water falls here, and been a co-author of the guidebook “Heavy Water”, I think that I can guarantee you the best that we can offer of ice climbing in Rjukan. 

As the only certified  IVBV/IFMGA/UIAGM Mountain Guide in Rjukan, I am looking forward to show YOU the best lines that we have to offer!
